Job Description:
The Area Chief Engineer will lead the efforts in all aspects of engineering/property maintenance by providing engineering and project management support. This position will support operations being a resource and filed expert, help to provide insight for quality control, assist in inventory control and cost analysis, help to guide in the budget process, and serve as lead in various aspects of safety and security initiatives. The person in this position must be able to roll their sleeves up and assist our teams when needed, living our “ONE TEAM. ONE VISION.” philosophy. This person must also provide innovative ways that align with our mission to be the best, most respected hotel company in America.

- Support and guide maintenance leaders in the planning and implementation of preventive maintenance programs to ensure the facilities are well maintained and safe for all.
- Mentor maintenance leaders to identify safety and service improvements, maintenance assessments to extend the life of assets, and develop corrective action plans.
- Partner with above property support on renovation projects, and quality expectations.
- Inform senior leadership of recommendations for asset preservation of major mechanical repair/replacement during budget process; Assist with capital plans.
- Support area training activities and help to ensure compliance with all federal, state and local laws and safety regulations.
- Provide guidelines and assistance through best practice directives.
- Establish guidelines for the replenishment of engineering supplies; Implement procedures to secure inventory of assets such as tools, basic supplies, TVs, and standard FF&E within each hotel.
- Promote and enforce administrative processes; Ensure all PM logs are kept current.
- Have knowledge of and support team on life safety tests.
- Provide operations teams with front-line support in emergency mechanical or natural disaster situations.
- Ensure that each hotel has a current and detailed emergency procedures manual.
- Assist the Corporate Director of Engineering.
- Support cross-hotel communication to synergize operations, share best practices and leverage organizational resources.
Necessary Skills:
- 3 years' previous Chief maintenance engineering experience.
- Previous managerial experience to include supervision of a large team or multi-property responsibility preferred.
- Hospitality background to include experience with major hospitality brands (Marriott, Hilton, etc.).
- HVAC certification and/or other specialized certifications.
- Thorough knowledge of all aspects of hotel maintenance, including energy management, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting, machine repair and boilers.
- Proficiency with computer software to include Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Skill in handling the stresses of multiple, concurrent and conflicting priorities and issues.
- Knowledge of OSHA requirements, including site safety.
- Strong ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of onsite workers and corporate senior management.
- Flexibility and mobility to maintain a schedule of frequent travel (approximately 75% field, 25% office).
- Exceptional communication skills, in both verbal and written formats.
- Exceptional service orientation, with keen ability to focus and deliver on guest needs.
- Reliable and responsible character, with exceptional follow up and attention to detail.
- Proven leadership skills in supporting employees to consistently attain personal, departmental and organizational performance goals.

- Ability to work effectively as an independent contributor, and as a part of a collaborative team. Keep confidential the business functions of the company including, but not limited to, financial status, customer/guest information, associate issues, etc.
